PRESTON and his 7 companions are victims of the so-called „pet culture” so typical of the Hungarian countryside. They have already been able to experience what it’s like to have an owner in the countryside where you must be terrified of your owner and where your free movement is severely restricted by a short chain, but they have never been able to experience what a super feeling it is to actually belong to someone and be the apple of the eye for this person.
The story goes back to the end of the year 2020 when 3 puppies came into our care from a countryside farm. The puppies were about to be sold at the local market. According to the owner, the puppies would be definitely given only to „good homes” because, of course, they „love dogs”…
As it happens, on 22nd April 2021 we drove that way again, to the very same farm and counted altogether 11 (uncastrated!) dogs on the property. Out of them 3 were „running somewhere on the road” as naturally, there was no fence around the premises. Obviously, this is why some of the dogs had to live their life chained. In this way, we were able to bring „only” 8 dogs away and the other 3 dogs will be collected by us at a later date. The 8 dogs are: Pether, Parker, Phyro, Page, Presley (they are the 5 small size dogs) and Penny, Lynette és PRESTON (they are the 3 larger size dogs). Luckily, all 8 of them are the sweetest, most easily manageable and best dogs of the shelter. Each one of them has a unique personality and they wind their way into your heart in a heartbeat, so we have good reason to trust the loving owner will find them soon.
All the 3 larger size dogs were extremely friendly. They were not terrified of people like their small size companions.
PRESTON’s a calm, attentive, very sweet, people-loving, friendly doggo who gets on extremely well with everyone, let it be person or dog. He’s level-headed, his self-control is infinite and he’s extremely adaptable. We recommend him to even first time dog owners as he’s very easy to manage. He’s really looking forward to his walks – he’s waiting at his kennel gate and pushes his head to the kennel bars telling u sin little quiet whining sounds that he really, really wants to come with us wherever we go. Wherever that’s outside his small prison of a kennel. He enjoys even longer walks, but he does not pull ont he lead and does not run. He enjoys stroking and attention a lot and he follows you everywhere. He’s of medium energy level.
During our impromptu cat test (that is conducted in a small room full of cats) he did not show any interest in the felines. However, because both parties were experiencing a new situation it is not fully guaranteed that he will be completely cat-friendly in other situations as well.
Unfortunately, PRESTON is heartworm positive the treatment of which condition incurs a monthly cost of 4,000 Ft. He's waiting for his loving owner who's willing to provide this for him. 19.05.2021
